“Creation And Destruction”

I often sit and wonder
Why did God
In all his splendor
Contrive the creation
Of worthless beings
Such as you and me

The Earth he made
A precious gem
To crown his universe
The birds to beautify the sky
The fish to occupy the rich waters
The animals so picturesque
Amongst green foliage

The heavens and the earth
Testified to his great majesty
But one regret had he

From precious dust
He brought forth man
And since that day
One thing only has been for sure
The destruction of everything
Sacred and pure.

“Mere Happenstance…or Special Creation By A Master Architect?”

It is easy to see where agnostics and atheists can be easily influenced into thinking that there is no God. Throughout mankind’s history, he has come up with varying definitions of God, varying beliefs on how to reach out to such an Omnipotent Being, what form He/She takes, and what happens after death.

The world has always been saturated with various religions, denominations, sects, and holy books. Sometimes they conflict, sometimes they concur. Much blood has been shed in the name of God, and many have stood on rooftops and cried out to the skies, blowing a trumpet in the name of God, but with sinister and evil agendas in their hearts.

Yes, it’s easy to wring one’s hands in exasperation and conclude that there is no God and that we are all accidental events in time and space. But such a route leaves us as humans with just one journey to undertake, just one ticket to purchase…and severely narrows the difference between us and other living species.

Many of us of faith continue to believe that there is a master Architect and that human destiny is superior. Either we are accurate or we have duped ourselves into the biggest hoax of all.

Are we after all mere happenstance and so full of arrogance that we should feel entitled to more than one journey? I daresay that I am among those who, while we do not stand at the street corner seeking converts, are vain enough to believe that the human species is an exalted one with a destiny superior to anything else in the Universe.

“No Intellectual Superiority”

No one race, religion, ethnicity, tribe, or human being is endowed with a natural intellectual superiority.

Historical opportunities, as well as atrocities, may have caused one group to enjoy privileges which appear to make that group have a natural proclivity or lack thereof.

We are all born with the same physical brain which carries the potential to excel or to go through life untapped because of adverse circumstances or lack of initiative….but do not ever consider any human being ito be naturally intellectually superior.

“Aim For Something Worthwhile”

Having goals in life helps give meaning and direction. Sure, we must distinguish fantasy from reason…but we must also not create or allow artificial barriers or limitations suggested by family, associates, friends, and others.

The goal may be to migrate for a better future, to change careers, to buy a home or car, to have decent, sincere friends, to travel…or simply to find peace and happiness and enjoyment in one’s immediate environment andwith the cards life has dealt.

Whatever the goal, do your utmost best to attain it without stomping on others. If the goal, or some goals never get realized, you’ll know that you did your best – and consider this, would you have preferred to go through life aimlessly or was it not still worth it, after all, to set a direction and to have something that inspired you and fired up your life each day that you opened your eyes and gave thanks?

Blessings, all – aim for the highest attainments you desire – and if you never get there, you might well still attain some other wonderful things had you not set the bar high.

“A Look At Modern Romantic Relationships”

As a writer, I write the way I feel, fully cognizant that I do not have a monopoly on understanding all of life’s complexities, or of calling them right for anyone or everyone sometimes, or all the time. I continue to express my thoughts in written word, for it is my anointment from my Creator, it is my talent to express my perspectives through the written medium – and leave it to the reader to ponder, to digest, and to discard or re-evaluate.

Take my perspectives on modern marriages, for example. I firmly believe that in the 21st century, it is imperative that couples recognize that no one person can fulfill all the requirements that another has in order to enjoy life in all its manifestations. No partner, no matter how valuable or valued by a mate, can wear all caps, can meet all the emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and other legitimate needs that one has.

A lover, a spouse cannot be the sole friend, confidante, advisor, cannot bear all the burdens or satisfy all the needs a human being has. To be sure, it is an unfair burden to expect all these of a partner.

It is important that one should hold the object of one’s love in the highest regard and give one’s maximum to that person. One must, however, never shut oneself out from others. No man or woman, no couple is an island unto himself, herself, or themselves. Always leave room in life to enjoy and share with others – loving relatives, caring friends, associates, and others along the way.

Life in the modern era cannot be fully enjoyed if partners so immerse themselves in each other that others are shut out, that social lives and interactions with others are dead,

Such a state of affairs, can in fact, be detrimental. Jealousy, possessiveness, total absorption in a partner which leaves no breathing room for him or her to travel with others or to share with others, expectations for him or her to fulfill all one’s needs in life – these can, in my estimation, cause relationships to become trite and gloomy – and worse yet, even end up in the junk heap.

“Woman”

I long for the touch of her lips
The sensations of her pulsating body
Through this web of loneliness and frustration
My haunted mind evokes desires
That reverberate through my palpitating manhood

To be held in her embrace
To have her squeeze my torso in sweet ecstasy
This imagination becomes a madness
But my body aches in yearning

Woman
I wait for you
Come rescue me
Fulfill me and complete me
Lest my imaginations turn to bitterness and sudden despair.

“A Short, Sweet, But Precious While”

Something about your smile
Enchanted me when I first met you
Just a few short months ago

As I looked into your friendly eyes
When we said hello
I realized you were someone
Worth knowing as more than a friend

Cherie, the dreams and hopes I had
Are all gone
The illusions have disappeared
As suddenly as they came

The tenderness of our short-lived happiness
Has, like an evening sunset,
Turned into darkness of a gloomy night

You are young and oh, so sweet!
You are free and single
Like the robin perched atop yonder branch
Which, alighting an hour or two, is gone

The winter months are around the bend
The snowflakes I can already see
In cold and bitter nights
I’ll lie and dream
Of things that might have been

But you, like the robin, which I still can see
Will fly away to chirp in someone else’s sweet dreams
May you enlighten that someone’s life
The way you did mine

With this sad adieu
I thank you for stopping by my heart
Even though
‘Twas just for a short, sweet, but precious while

Cherie, when you think of me in days to come
If ever you do
Do not shed a tear of sympathy
Remember me as someone good
Please forgive the wrongs and forget the bad

Goodbye, sweet angel
And God bless you
Now and always.

“Searching For An Answer”

I’ve traveled this world far and wide
Seeking something I thought I could find
Loneliness, solitary companion by my side
I had hopes for answers to things on my mind

O’er the mountains and through deep valleys
Beneath sparkling fountains and in dark alleys
My weary feet have had to toil
As I traversed this earth’s soil
Searching for a reason to live, a hope for tomorrow
A world without sorrow

But more I traveled more I marveled
At a world full of cruelty
At man’s inhumanity

As I look around me
All I can see
Are men yearning to be free
More questions than answers
Violence and pollution
Problems beyond solution
A world full of sin
The world I’m living in

Yet will I trudge on
From dawn till sunset
From sunset till morn
Till I find what I seek
A reason to live
Comfort for the meek
Someone to forgive

‘Fore my life comes to an end
There’s something I must find
So I can tell you, my friend
Answers to things on my mind
In a world of futility
A world full of cruelty

“North of the Border”

“She lived north of the border. We met online. She told me she cared immensely and that she was gonna be my sister in God, and in life.

“I noticed that every time I turned around she would shower me with ‘I love you’’s. It seemed so natural for her, like second nature to utter those three little words…and to blow countless muahz’s my way.

“Then one cold spring evening, the sky turned dark and gloomy. The holdover wintry temps and falling snow – even as the calendar said April – were a sure sign that things had gone awry for us too…and that a coolness and frigidity had taken over.

“Now, the kisses are no more. The ‘I love you’’s have melted faster than a snow cone on a hot sticky summer day.

“Chalk it all up as another bend along the road. Ahhh…but life must go on.

“There’ll be others like her who will come and go. But maybe, just maybe, someday the love will be real and the kisses more than superfluous and meaningless.

“All I wanted was a genuine friend and sister, someone to love and to be around for, and to be with the day she walked down the aisle with the man of her dreams.”
